Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Went to put the chooks in the run tonight, and noticed someone missing. Hmmm, Pip isn't here? Then here comes Roy, who has spent the last 3 or 4 nights outside of the run, because he was afraid to go in. Well, he looks at the run, looks at me, then looks behind him. Here comes Pip. In goes Roy! Pip is spending the night outside tonight! I cannot imagine what must've happened between Pip and Roy, but Roy went from the top to the bottom, and Pip went from the bottom to the top in one day! Pip's pretty smart, and has spent many nights out on his own. Roy, I really can't afford to lose; and boy, were the girls happy to see him! I went into the coop to make sure he made it to the roost, and he had three of his ladies snuggled up tightly all around him. So cute, and I'm so relieved!!

I made some the other night for dinner....added a little pesto and diced Marans and PRESTO....yummy, dinner was done! They are sooooooo easy and sooooooo good! I love how well they freeze and keep. DH does not like store bought noodles since the first time I made him fresh homemade ones.

haha that's how I am too! I would prefer everything to be homemade if I'm being totally honest! I am saving up my pennies to eventually get some pasta attachments for my kitchenaid mixer, so I can make even more kinds!

Oh, you cheater!

We used to just put wax paper on the table, pile on the flour and eggs, mix it up by hand, roll them out and cut them up. Kitchenaid...humpf!

I am collecting attachment as I go along for mine....I found a couple at the Goodwill and a new blender (cause DH fried my pink one...but I made him swap out the parts on the used one so that my pink one is all better)....if only I could get lucky and find the little beaters for my hand held mixer...that would totally be a score.

I'm thinking there must not be as much to hunt out there this year...I've got predators like crazy I've never had to deal with ever before. yarg

haha...sometimes you say things that make me think we really must be a lot alike! I love shopping the deals and etc. Even this artisan mixer I bought was an amazing deal...i bought it new but got it for less than half the price cause I waited and was able to get an extra 20% off the already 40% off.... yay for deals!!!

Sounds to me, with all this warm weather, the hawks haven't migrated as they should've?? I was sitting on my front porch this morning, and there were two Cooper's Hawks in the oak trees in my pasture. They should've been long gone by now. I've still got Robins and Bluebirds here too.

My kitchenaid mixer was the best small appliance I bought for my kitchen. It makes bread so much easier!! I make a lot of my own breads and I don't like bread machines. I have most of the attatchment but not the pasta ones. I want them though LOL!

I don't make mine in the kitchenaid, I would if I were making a huge batch for the whole family or resupplying the stash in the freeze, but when it's just the two of us, it's just quicker and less messy to use the wax paper method.

Kim, Are you talking a bricks and mortar Goodwill? You do know about the online Goodwill site, don't you?? I've gotten some really great deals off of that site!!

Hmmm, I may have to look into the Kitchenaid. It makes bread too??? All these new fangled gadgets, I swear. I'm really getting tired of paying $3.00 for a loaf of stinking bread!
