Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Absolutely it is! I look at some of the sponsors when I want to, but hate the fact that they are now crammed down my throat!

It definitely makes the GFM/PPM membership more attractive so it DOES make sense from a marketing point of view that BYC would do this ....

Dial up IS slow but pictures are MUCH faster to upload now.

Hum,
Once again an "improvement" in a site has granted me an even smaller part of my viewing screen.

Since 911, seems everyone feels they need to usurp 2/3 of my screen for various and sunry items unassociated with my wants

. It seems to have all stated with the emergency alert banners on the bottom of the news screen and spread like wildfire thruout the viewing iindustry.

Well, will see how this turns out, sigh. Probably, in the end I will find more reasons to stay than go,

Update on Dixie: This is a 3-month old blue Maran I've posted about before, her toes were fused and she was soooo much smaller than the other chicks of the same age. Then she grew a little and became the ugliest little thing ever but now she has caught up to the others in size. My question is, is Dixie a girl?

this is what she looked like a couple of months ago in comparison to the other chicks:

I'm gonna definitely vote its now a Dwayne as well. If that's a girl, its the butchest girl Marans I've seen

I like the looks of him a lot tho. Is he from true solid blue stock or is he from blue copper stock?

Yep looks roo-ish. I have only had one chick fool me so far about that age and that was my blue girl Cocoa. She was just huge and had a red comb and big wattles lol. I kinda thought she was a boy until she started laying. Even her feet were huge.

So, the collection of eggs keeps growing for the incubator...

On the left are some eggs that have more bloom than usual. I'm going to see how they hatch out. and on the right is my grab bag of lovelies...I'm excited to see what happens with them, but most of all, I'm really happy to see how my incubator test goes. I just want to be ready to go when it comes time for test matings. Especially on a day like today, where it is so cold and overly windy the air literally gets sucked out of your lungs when you go outside. I gotta have something to look forward to.
