I don't have a set system either, but when they get rowdy and knocking the other eggs around, if no one, or at least some aren't zipped 3/4 of the way, I yank the chicks out quickly. I think I have more losses here from the soccer players than I do, due to a humidity drop. My bator gets the humidity and temp back pretty quickly.

That's kind of what I've been thinking....I just can't tell in the back all the way what the progress on the eggs there are because of how much the chicks are wriggling around and huddling around the unhatched eggs, so I'm just not sure. I'll try to hold off for a while longer at least, but I'm thinking they're gonna have to come out soon. They really are scramblers!

I usually don't watch the weather too close because I can usually feel when storm fronts are coming and going...I still haven't found something that works for me right away. So, maybe the ginger will do the trick!?

Next time you head to the store, pick of a bottle of NOS. It's an energy drink, in a blue bottle with an orange cap. It has Ginseng, Taurine, Caffeine, and L-Carnitine in it. It's carbonated, and while I am not a soda drinker, I can handle this. When I feel the first twinge of one of my headaches coming on, and it's always in the middle of the night, I get up and take a swallow, then take another sip and hold it under my tongue for about 10 seconds, then repeat that a few more times. Within 5 minutes, all symptoms have stopped, and I can go back to sleep. Before I found this, I would be up from anywhere of 15 minutes to 4 hours! You can not lay down with these headaches (Clusters), so I have to walk. They are also referred to as the "Suicide" headache, because of the intense pain behind the eye. People are known to bash their heads on the wall and counter tops to try to relieve the pain, or else re-direct it? That didn't sound like a good idea to me, so I got on a help forum for them, and while most use oxygen these days, (which did not help my Dad), one guy in there asked if I had ever tried Red Bull. I went out the next day and got some, but it did not work for me? I also bought a bottle of the NOS while I was there, and tried it the night after when the headaches struck again. Within 5 minutes, I was back in bed! What ever is different in it from the Red Bull, it works for me, and is nothing short of a miracle as far as I'm concerned!!

Anyone no a good place or thread that I can get info on Maran color genetics for breeding , I have Birchen and , Blue copper boys , and birchen Hens what will I get if i cross the 2 colors Also whats your guys take on Birchens .

Hi Spitman!

Birchens are BEAUTIFUL! The Silver on the black or the blue is striking. They have a slightly lighter egg color than the Coppers do but they are still Marans and still beautiful.

If you cross the 2 colors will have get a mix of colors that happen...such as gold/straw hackles or cream colored hackles, copper hackles and such. You can breed them this way but it will take forever to clean up and perfect the silver or the copper in the offspring depending on what color you are trying to achieve. What do you want to achieve with crossing them?

Took 26 eggies out of the fridge yesterday to put in the 'bator. Wish me luck!

Thanks Kim! I'm having fun watching them through the door but am thinking I'm gonna need to get the ones hatched out of there soon. They are just so big that they are wreaking havoc now that they have gotten sturdy on their feet!

I hope you have really great luck with your hatch! And that these new ones that go into the bator will do really well too! I also hope that things calm down in your life really soon too!

well....its still like popcorn in there...mostly blues are still hatching out!

I am not able to count as easily as I was before since they are all clumping up in a big fuzz pile...but looks like I might be about 25 or so...and have 2 zipped most of the way and several pipped. I can't wait to get them out of there!!!!
