Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I appreciate this forum. I learn so much from everyone who shares here on this site. Things do not always have to be as one person sees it as we all know.....what's important here is that we can all learn from each other and hopefully help each other and new comers in the process.... no matter if we have been chickening for 2 days or our entire lives. Everyone brings something to the table.

It's like eating a piece of meat. Swallow the good stuff, chew and spit out the grizzle. In the end, it all comes down to our own decisions and how we proceed. I know with me, most of the time I need to make the mistakes for myself so I can see it first hand! Every piece of info I've gotten here has either helped me, or made me think outside of the box. Chew it all, spit out what ya don't want to swallow!

Mornin' Miss Vicki....it's my weekend to hatch. Kim, are you hatching too??
That's right you are hatching too! I forgot. Its been a terrible week here with work and my dad not feeling well.
I wish I was hatching! but these young ones are keeping me on my toes. I've never had a more lively bunch of chicks than these. I also just came in from shifting some birds around and marking a few to become freezer camp material. I also have selected about 15 girls of various breeds to go live with my friend who needs layers, so all in all its been a good day so far. i have work here in a couple of hours, but have tomorrow free, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get some more stuff done tomorrow for my day off.

Hope your Dad gets to feeling better. Seems like you've had a pretty busy work schedule lately? Good you'll get tomorrow off. I'm getting ready to go play with the Silkie babies again, and this time, I WILL play with my camera too!! Storms tomorrow, sure hope they don't get ugly...

Morning Everyone!

Vicki~

I'm a doofus! I have been lost and lost a day somewhere along the way too....I thought Thursday was Friday and I put those eggs in lockdown a day early. I think they will be fine. Hatch day is Monday.
Tuesday is lockdown for my Olive Eggs and one very nice Marans egg from Mel....candled the other day and can't see a blippin' thing in the olives but the very nice Marans egg is doing great.

Next scheduled hatch is the 85 eggs I set Thursday morning, projected hatch day is March 29th.

Debbi~ What's the word on Ms. Wynettes eggies???

Well, today is only day 20. So far, only seen a couple rocking slightly. These are some huge eggs, so my little bator is packed! Hope to see someone start later tonight maybe?

Don~

Please do not go back to the void and stop posting. Your words are valued here more than you think.

I don't see anything being discussed as an argument or argumentative in any way....I am reading thoughts, opinions and advise, for which I am very grateful for. Some people, I for one, will not let something go that I feel strongly about or until I have the answers I am looking for.

As for not letting some things go........well to put it bluntly and respectfully....some things just can't be let go and somethings shouldn't be let go. If we sweep things under the carpet, we know they are there...we see it every time we pass by it....for crying out loud we will pick up our foot to step over it but yet we do nothing about it. This is where folks think it is okay to leave it there unattended and not cleaned up. Now you know as well as I do that someday someone is going to trip over that pile under the carpet. If we don't talk about it......how do we fix it?
Perfect case in point...(IMO).....the birds that Math Ace posted photos of from the Newnan Show (this is one of those things I cannot let go.

) the birds that placed with DQ's did not do any justice for the breed or for anyone breeding them (new breeders or old breeders), also it was misrepresentation of the breed to the general public walking through looking at the pretty birds.
