Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I have 3 OE girls!
They're funny, silly, and love to be picked up and carried around while I work - chatting the whole time, of course!

All 3 have pea combs and 2 just started laying - one lays a GORGEOUS green egg. The other girl lays a brown egg with green spots....

I work late tomorrow (plus, it's been raining cats and dogs for days...) but I HAVE to share some pics of the Americauna, too!
I just LOVE their puffy cheeks coming in - they almost cover their little faces!

alright...fuzzy faced fattie time. I have 3 splash, for sure 2 blacks, maybe 3 and for sure 12 blues, possibly 13, just depends on whether the one decides to be a black or blue.

Those are too cute! I love those cheeks! My lavender and split pullet produce chicks with the biggest cheeks I have ever seen. I have lavenders hatching now! I had one Lav out and one of the Splits eggs had zipped when I left..... 5-6 lavender would help so much! I bought some from Dak and hers should be 100% lavs I think.

this is a small hatch of less than 2 doz.

haha - I love how the chick fuzz makes it look like chubby cheeks or that they're smiling like tweety bird!

very cute, vicki!

I think this might end up being a really good year for birdies around here. My birchens are on their way and so are the blue coppers.... keepin my fingers crossed for more progress! Have I ever shown you guys my ameraucana boy? He's a black with a gorgeous beard and muffs and beeeautiful comb. He's a royal turd tho.

this is the only shot I could find of him, not the best angle, but shows the beard, muffs and comb. And yes...that is the evil eye he is giving me. I'm hoping if I give him some girlies when they are older, they will keep him occupied!
