Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Hey Vicki, the boys are looking good! That last little guy's legs look like he is part turkey! What a chunker he is! The first Blue is nice, nice long back. Tail break looks a bit sharp, but that could be the way he is standing? All in all, they look very promising!

haha that first boy is not standing right as I had been chasing him around for about 10 minutes before I finally got smart enough to just take a stinkin pic. haha. Sometimes I think real good.
All the boys from my alternate roos pen are just beefy and a half. Part turkey could indeed be used to describe them haha. Hoping to get more shots of others tomorrow if I have time before work.

correct be if I am wrong.... working on first cuppa coffee right now...... If you have 2 blues they can make 25% black, 50% blue and, 25% splash.

Help me in the mean time... what do we have here.... wheaten? sport? white?

Kinda has a chipmunk think but looks more like black spots? What is it?

Hey i need some help.... i just hatched some marans and i think she only runs nlues and black so no splashes are possible but i have a yellow chick with black spots what could it be? Sport white or wheaten? I cant do pis right now but tonight...... the spots r making me think wheaten......
I'm thinkin' Wheaten. My friend just hatched some chicks and they are yellow with spots and one has a stripe down its back. Wheatens.

Edited to say: Just saw photos and can't make up my mind.......certainly has Wheaten in it but possible that it also has other genes that will make it have the chipmunky look....chipmunky look is associated with Golden Salmon or wild type genes. .

Morning Pink! Could be Wheaten, she will know for sure when the wing feathers come in. My Wheaten eggs go into lockdown on Wed.! I sure hope I get a few.

Gilavina~ Those are some chuncky chickers!!!!! Lovin' the blues!
haha...I haven't even shown you all the blues yet either! I've got some birchen boys that are blues and they are LOVELY so far! I'll see what I can do for more photos today, but gotta figure out a way to photograph them that has good light, where they can't run away...AND so they will feel comfortable enough to stand naturally. Not asking for much am I?
