I live about 20 miles from a huge Army base. My thinking is, that the folks that are getting ready to PS, can't find homes for their animals, so take them to the "country" or to someone else's home that looks like an animal lover, and hope they fare well. I just KNOW that's where that monster snake had to come from, wasn't a native by any sense of the word, HAD to be someone's pet. Never did see the head or the end of tail of that snake. It was crossing my driveway which is 8 feet wide, with 3 feet of grass on both sides!!

Never did see it again, guess he didn't make it through the winter?

Dom white does not cover everything. My Super Blue Egg Layers are White with Black spots. The gold might show right through, I know barring will.... but you have to look HARD for it.

That was my thinking. The recessive white masks the other colors. You may/will end up with all white birds, but when you breed the offspring to another color.... surprise! With my recessive white Silkie male, I got whites (there is 1 white hen in the pen), blues (there is 1 blue hen and 1 Splash was in the pen), and two blue partridge (dark blue w/recessive parti gene hen). I would think, if you are looking for gold leakage, dominant white would be the way to go?? ETA: Oh gees, wait! I forgot about the Blue roo that was in there before he died by thunping his head! Sheesh, now I'm confused!!

The chicken calc says 100% white offspring and I know I will get 100% cuckoo too if he is properly barred. So the gold would show through?

I was actually toying with this cross.... just to see what I would get.... even bigger eggs from the Leghorn and DARK brown to boot

So, word on the street....or gravel road, whatever...is a pit bull's on the loose a couple neighbors down. They're workin to find his owner, but can't get their hands on him. Sure hope he steers clear of here. Luckily all my pens and animals and any entrance to them is fenced off, but still has me nervous.

Hopefully, everyone stays on his/her own side of the fence and they find the dog's owners soon!
