I hope Debby blows up here too! We need some rain. Even with all the heat my birds seem to be fine. Friday, it is going to be 101 and I will be adding water pans, but it is a dry heat

seriously. Usually we have HIGH humidity but not right now. It is tolerable. Tomorrow only 86 so we are mixing feed.

wish we would get some of the rain too! very dry here, so far the birds are doing good but it is suppose to get hot here again for the mid to end of the week just not sure what the temp will be- have heard several different ones. Hoping the last chick dries off quick as some of the babies are panting a bit in the incubator.

blech...sounds like the weather is spaced out about right...I'll get 102-104 wed, then Debbi thursday, then you....no good.

I'm not sure about taking birds to the sale tomorrow, just gonna play it by ear since they keep upping the temps on us...now I see wed and thursday over 100 here, so might detract people going to the sale. I can always use the day to do a million other things, but was really hoping to thin out some of the birds....esp the younger ones. Decisions, decisions....

As of this post we have 6 babies hatched out- 1 splash, 1 black(could be dark blue) and 4 blue cuckoo Marans, #7 is still working on getting out and #8 and #9 don't appear to be doing anything.

Way to go chickies!! Congrats!

I don't have good pics..... If any one see gold just tell me......He lost his point to frost bite.

Wow, I've never seen a Splash Cuckoo, is there barring in there? The lighting makes him look kind of goldy all over on my monitor. Love the pallet pen, you are the Pallet Queen!!

Feel better and try to stay off it for a day or so at least! All my chooks were doing fine last I went out. Gave them all cool water, fed some squash and blackberries, and misted them all a little. Even Clyde let me spray him today, that's a first! Hosed down an area in each run for them to cool off in, and where do they go? To the dry dust bath. Seeing that really makes me believe they would much rather be dry on days like this. My Splash girl Dopey, now looks like a mud hen!

But the Silkies, they were digging the mist!

hahaha! Indeed...I am accident prone, been that way since I was a kid and just never grew out of it. Can go for long stretches with nothing and usually will go in a run of stupid stuff like this. I'm doin great on it....finished hauling and unloading freight at work and now that I've had it up for a while it doesn't hurt at all. I'll soak it before I get ready for bed and be careful, but doing nothing isn't really an option at the moment haha...I'll take it easy tonight as I have a poultry meeting on Sunday and have quite a bit of secretary stuff I want to get off my list of to dos so I can be prepared.

Glad the birds are doin great! Birds here are pretty content at the moment as some clouds are blockin the afternoon sun. That always helps the pens on the west side. Might start working on some building tomorrow morning while its still cool. My chicks need some more space now that the youngest ones are on a major growth spurt!

Brownness maybe the wrong word.... it is like I have seen on some Lavenders that have some blonde in their hackles and saddle feathers. They call that gold leakage, but lavender dilutes it, would SPLASH do that... dilute the gold? I need better pics... right?
