I belee there is a picture of a comb with split Blade in the thread Lisa has been wotking with , maybe even the thread Wynette started for the SOP. If you have an old Poultry book it will be pictured there. It is also pictured the SOP as is the split tail.Evening, all!![]()
Hope everyone is staying as cool as possible
So - Don's comment about combs lead me to thinking about furthering my education:
Does anyone have a pic of a split blade?
Also - a pic of a split tail?
I think I have the idea, but I've never seen either in person
I did try to search BYC....

I wish I could find some Lavender Marans in this areaIs there anyone else on this thread that as lavender marans as well, I'd love to compare notes.
These are F3's so I've got a bit of work to do on them still
THis looks like one of my kids drawings!! Spikes and claws everywhere!Hello all..... another question for you. I have a blue marans pullet that so far appears to be a solid blue. I love her coloring.... she is however fairly clean legged. I understand this is not desirable, but I still considered breeding her. Then I noticed she grew an extra toenail on each foot. See picture..... is this a genetic thing that will pass on to her offspring or just a fluke thing??? If she goes then I will have just ONE blue copper pullet left..... I will need more lol. Thoughts please![]()

Had to come in here to cry my woes. I lost Lazer, the Showgirl this morning. Everyone was fine at 7:30pm last night when I fed and watered for bedtime. This morning I go out, and I see red! Blood on those white Silkie feathers is quite vivid. He had a prolapse, but didn't seem like any of the others had been pecking yet, so I had hopes and brought him in. He was in a lot of pain, and I was desperately trying to find answers on here for the situation. In the mean time, he passed away.![]()
Could the heat have caused this problem? He is not of breeding age yet, so that's not it, I just saw no cause for it. He was fine, and running around last evening with a piece of squash that they all love. My only SG, gone...I am bummed, he was so sweet. To make matters worse, my modem is going out, so I may not be on here again for awhile. Sheesh, when it rains...

Glad to hear I'm not the only one having issues with lavender Ameraucanas!!! Totally not Marans related but - do you find you have the same problems when you cross the lavs back to an unrelated black? I'm really hoping that will improve things for me.
(I have issues with some of my Marans too ....working on that too!)
