Maybe make some kind of arrangement with the old man that you want to "inherit" the farm after he's gone - ?? -

West Coast is nice and gray an cool this morning after night of thunder and lightning storms. Looks like we will be getting a few more move through today. Tomorrow will be a high of 73 which works out great because we are going to a function called Farm Jam in Oregon. I look forward to a cool Farm Jam this year, last year was horribly hot.

Honestly, that's the kind of arrangement I would want anyways, not because of money factors, but I would want to work alongside them and learn what they know, so it is passsed on. There is a place here in Lyons, NE where my dad's side of the family were farmers for years and years. Its called the Center for Rural Affairs and they have a program just like that I've thought about joining, but just haven't done it yet.
I'd love to know more about that farm tho if you know more, PM me!

This weekend here is a thing called Camp Creek Threshers. I loved going growing up, but its going to be so stinking hot this weekend that I don't know if I can handle it. 104 and 105 tomorrow and sunday, not including the heat index. I heard on the news last night the heat index over the weekend is gonna be somewhere between 110-125, depending on the time of day. Besides work, I'll be staying close to home and keeping an eye on the animals and watering like crazy. I'm gonna freeze up some waterbottles to stick in the water dishes I think and mix up some homemade electrolytes to have on hand in case of stress. This has to end at some point.
