Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Well, don't over do it gal, for your sake and the chooks! I need to go out to do water again, and retrieve a black Silkie pullet from the Partridge pen. Always has to be one escape artist, and she is insistant on being with the Partridge family!

I even found her sitting up in my chair in their run the other day, that was a first for any of my Silkies!
no worries, I'm doing things in 15 to 20 minute spurts and drinkin plenty of water and gatorade and the birds all just got fresh water with water bottle ice cubes, works great

Well, waited til it cooled down a bit, it's only 102* now! Got all the waterers cleaned and refilled, fetched back the bad Silkie and put her back in her own pen, and hosed down the birds that would have it. Poor Flossy was sounding the goose honk alarm, so she was the first to get soaked whether she liked it or not. She stopped honking, so either that did the trick or she is in shock!

Then they all run to the dust bath. What pretty little mud pies they are now...

Here are my new single mating cages!

We're going to put 4 shelves of 2 cages each and a drip system on the top shelf!

ahhh I see what you mean, She has a wonderful top line, but is in mid run right there and so she's not holding it like she would if she were standing still. I'll post the outline shots again. I have them printed on heavier card stock and take them out with me often when I go to look at the progress on the young ones so I can see how they are developing.

oh, and yes, they are all just about 5 months old.

okay, I'm lost here are both of these pictures what one should follow when deciding what ones to keep. Thanks :)
