Don, where did you order it from? I'm still concerned about removing it from the sterile bottle...no one else worries about this?

I don't remove the wafer from the bottle. I use a tiny scalpel to divide the wafer while it's still in the bottle. I only take out the quarter wafer that I need and I put the cap back on the bottle. Knock on wood...never had a problem with any of my babies.

I bought some online and it came in the powdered form. My vet told me that the wafer form was preferred. Then, I read somewhere that different types are preferred for different areas, depending on the strain most prevalent in the area.

Don't know for sure but it might be different Manufacturers. I have always used Fort Dodge.
