haha, too funny. I look at what might help to balance my birds in areas, and I should have said, to help me fill in a couple of gaps I have hhaha

OK.... here we go, not the best pictures Sorry. I am going to put them in separate pens, they are bigger than I expected. If they are like the coppers I would expect more silver to show in a few weeks-months.
















Both have feathered shanks. No side sprigs and no obvious gold or cream yet.

Lookin good so far. The birchens, depending on the breeding can continue to color in, some just never quite get the coloring like they should. The cream or gold can leak in most of the time it will be on the wing bow as they age. I usually try to pick them up and pull out the wing and look, as there can be feathers that hide.

Hi I joined a while back but didn't have much to offer or ask.
But I do have a question now.

If I was to breed my French Wheaten Marans hen with my WLH rooster would their offspring have lighter eggs or would the dark egg gene be to dominant?

What is a WLH?

I have not studied egg colors much. Don't know if it is dominate or not. I would think you might get brown eggs but not dark eggs. It would depend on how dark the Wheatens eggs are but with just one copy I would not think it would be as dark.

I have some chicks I just hatched from WL covered by a Marans, it was just for fun. I have no idea what they will lay... probably never will I can't grow out too many odd chicks.

I just thought I would share a couple pictures of my Marans girls, while I impatiently wait for them to grow up and lay me some eggs! Lol, I have a while to go.

Every time I have had a hen resulting from my Wheaten Roo, her eggs have darkened from her mother. One lay's brown with dark brown spots.
