I grow out literally HUNDREDS of chicks a year and keep just a few so don't be to quick to cull if you just a few. Let them grow up and pick the best 2-3 you have and go from there.

I can too in a flat rate box. I usually ship more eggs than that and they don't fit in the boxes and it just never has worked for me. EVER. I ordered the boxes cuz everyone told me they were cheaper but really just reg priority mail based on weight is best 99% of the time. Other time flat rate works better.

not sure. I use 3x7" bubble wrap pouches. The eggs stand up I use large bubble wrap on top and bottom of the box. If each egg was not so large and so well protected I could get 20 maybe 24 in there. I only get 16 due to the packing . I like my top opening priority B boxes and even if they where a little cheaper using something else. Not worth it too me I have my system down

all I ever get is compliments so Ill keep at it.
I am sure there are many right ways to ship though so if it works best that way for you that is good. No argument here. You ship a lot of eggs.
I just know my way works for me.
I have gotten many many eggs from people as well and its scary how bad some people pack the eggs.
Spend all this time producing great birds then mess the eggs all up with improper packing..
Improper packing never stands a chance with our postal service.

The key is just making sure there packed proper.

You are right.... packing is HUGE. I use cohesive bubble wrap so the eggs are all stuck to each other and can't move. LOVE it!

The flat rates and #7 all open on the top too. I like the size of the #7 and can put 2 inches padding top and bottom and 1 inch all the way around for 16 eggs.... but I can get 32 eggs in the same box.

You are right.... packing is HUGE. I use cohesive bubble wrap so the eggs are all stuck to each other and can't move. LOVE it!

Hmm was that bubble off ebay?
well I won a 500 pack auction and they sent me a box that was 2x3x3 full of bubble wrap pouches like thousands lol so I am probably good for a little while

I ship like Hangtown - I will say that if I had the $, I'd definitely DEFINITELY ship using preemie diapers rather than bubble wrap pouches. I've gotten a few shipments in them, and they are awesome. MUCH more padding than bubble wrap pouches, and so you don't even need to line the bottom, sides & top with large bubble wrap. Just wrap each egg in a diaper & pop it into the box. There is no space savings, though, as the diapers are thick. However, that's also adding more garbage to the landfills, which bothers me, and is one of the reasons (plus expense) that I don't do it. But, again, those were the VERY BEST wrapped eggs and I got a fantastic hatch from them. They're like miniature insulators for each individual egg!

I HATE shipped eggs in egg cartons. I've had a few customers specifcially request it, and I have done so if they want them that way, but I caution them that IMHO, it's not the best way to ship.

I got some eggs from a friend in Washington state just last week, and she works for a pharmaceutical supplier (or something along those lines...) - she shipped them in a miniature styrofoam cooler, individually wrapped inside. WOWZERS. Now THAT is some impressive packing if you ask me. BUt...again, more garbage for the landfills.

She is recycling. I have a neighbor that brings them to me and they are great for the cold. They would have gone to the landfill if she had not reused them.

I just got my two Cuckoo Marans today ... sadly the USPS ... instead of letting the gal know who ordered them that they were in ... they put them on the delivery truck and the mail man left a box of 25 on her front porch !!!! She had given them 3 phone numbers and told them yesterday to expect the package of live baby chicks. I picked out two that were eating and drinking.. lets hope after their 3 day trip and sitting outside for the afternoon that they will be okay.

This is a Marans. He came from the Marans order I placed last fall with a source I'll never order from again because of all the substitutions. I ordered BTB and Silver Cuckoos, and got mostly wheaton + this guy.

Is he a Blue Tailed Buff?
