Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Guess I'll have to wait and find out...maybe send him a picture. He does have his breeds separated....his ad lists these: PENEDESENCA, WHITE CRESTED BLACK POLISH, BUFF LACE POLISH, RED COCHINS, BLUE COCHINS, PARTRIDGE COCHINS, SALMON FAVEROLES, BLUE COPPER MARANS, BLUE LACE RED WYANDOTTES, BLUE RED AMERACANAS, DARK BRAHMAS,AND SILVER LACE WYANDOTTES. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Try these. I added the last one who I think is the cochin...the man I got them from had all his chicks in one bin and seemed to be not 100% sure on what he was selling me....and I might have gotten them mixed up too...
I'm not an expert on Cochins but I believe they should have feathering on the middle toe. At lest mine do. I have no idea what these are. My guess is a cross breed.

There is no such color as BlueRed Ameracanas..... that is spelled wrong too so they are EE. Ameraucana is correct spelling and if they can't spell it they usually don't have it.

So he has his breeds separated but he doesn't know what kind of chicks he has.

Honestly, I don't think I would be inclined to buy from him.

Well that is not just based on the miss-spelling of Ameraucanas there is no color called Blue Red either.
Actually a search shows there is:

I guess I'll find out what I have when they get older. They are cute! Lucky I wanted these just for eggs and not breed. I'll sell the roos and if they are cute they may get a shot at getting a flock of their own somewhere!

Oh, he was nice but slow. It may be these are mixes. I did get some pures from him, too. Including this cutie:
