All fun and games aside, how is it going? Everything in 'batorland ok?
Hey, whenever you have time if it is possible, I would love to see how you and your DH worked out the little stackable crates. So you put them in the laundry bags and then put them in the crates? Did you line the bottom of the crates with something for slippery issues or do they stay in the bag and get the traction they need in there?

I really like the idea of the little stackable crates, I think they would work wonderful in my home'mator. Would you happen to know what the approx. size of the little laundry bags that you are using is? Are they pretty small or did you have to alter them for your needs?
Sorry if you have answered this before, knowing me, you probably did and I missed it like a goob. Thanks!

Me too Lisa! I'm having a hard time envisioning what y'all are talking about! As small as my hatches are, I won't worry about things like that until I get a SPORTSMAN type bator..

What kind of bator are you using??

I wish my house was as clean as the coop and brooders! Time consuming for sure, but then I don't WATCH the dishes or washing machine either!!

Here at my house if they are running (the dishwasher and washing machine) I considered myself to have been very busy and after doing these 2 things and a break is then definitely in order......our company breakroom is a couple of lawn chairs and some benches outside.....and wouldn't you know it, someone put them right infront of the chicken coops!

PINK - - The bags are 15" x 12" and I put 8 - 10 eggs in each bag and then in each crate. The crates are 8 1/2" x 7 1/2". My Dh cut them down to about 5" tall. The crates had a solid plastice bottom, but I had him drill small air holes in the bottom to make sure there was good air flow. The bags inside the crate should provide some gripping / texture for the little chicks feet.

Debbi - - my incubator is a IGLOO Polar roller 60 quart cooler

I am looking for the 120 quart so that I can hatch more eggs next time . . .

Cool! Thanks Math!

I will be waiting to hear how you liked them and how they worked out. I really like the sounds of the crates, I could use several of those without the bags and just line the bottom with that rubbermaid drawer liner stuff and then I could just take the styro dividers that I have out all together. I think I would get better flow with out the styro dividers in there. If the crates are the ones that I am thinking of and have slats around the sides of them that would be perfect, along with the holes drilled in the bottom.
Good job!

Please-post pictures when you can. Looking forward to seeing all these new inventions. Sooo curious.

BTW-my motivation for getting the house work done used to be to go for a ride(bicycle)- Now, it also so I can "waste" time with the chickens.
