Here are some pics I took yesterday of my favorite Marans Roo, Cuckoo Baby. He is a light golden cuckoo marans. I know he isn't proper perfect coloring and all but he is the sweetest silliest thing. He is always getting into some predicament. He was born at 3am upside down in his egg screaming bloody murder to get out and stuck good. I helped him out and he has been a little, well, 'cuckoo' ever since lol.

A very pretty bird, but alas not a Golden Cuckoo.
His colour is that of a Cuckoo Black-tailed Buff, not a recognised Marans colour.

A whaaaaat? lol -had to go look that up. Do you mean he is a cuckoo mixed with black tailed buff? Or something else? The breeder I got him from raised golden cuckoos and did have some males that were very light versions, even lighter that this one. As far as I know he is supposed to be golden cuckoo.
I wasn't going to use him to breed with my other GCs because he is too light and I have a younger male with better coloring and more defined barring. I was going to use this one for a project but it would be good to know what he is crossed with first?

Your welcome. I like the GC but they are hard to find and haven't found a good egg color either that I liked.

Wait wait wait a second. Are you serious? Because I have a roo that is almost solid copper with a blue tail. I was just going to use him for olive eggers- but will the babies lay black eggs?

I will put together a whole new pen just for your babies. . . .

It will be soo o o o cool to have super dark eggs that I will need to get a pair of shades to wear
