flowergarden: I love the BHB birds also... I have some 6th month old pullets I am waiting for a lay on... My girls are just starting to ramp up the egg color...They start lighter in the winter when I put lights on em... they have been slowly moving up the scale... I with those darn BHB would lay already....

My three year old ones are just starting to lay. I will put the group together once we get some egg thing going on!!!!

Wait wait wait a second. Are you serious? Because I have a roo that is almost solid copper with a blue tail. I was just going to use him for olive eggers- but will the babies lay black eggs?

Sorry but more copper in the hackles does not mean darker eggs. I think what she meant was increasing egg color by using Black Copper birds because the lay the darkest eggs and will lend their dark egg genes. Along with quest for darker eggs, I believe that she may have meant that she could get or work on more coppering in her birds hackles at the same time.

Correct me if I am wrong please Illia.

If my dog hadn't pooped on the floor and my husband hadn't stepped in it and yelled... (bad dog).. I would still be asleep... Wish I had eggs as the reason for being awake.. I am setting eggs tomarrow.. I wasn't here to collect them... but they did leave me 5 nice ones in Wonka... I have a new roo in there I am taking for spin... BHB's Willhe....

My dog doesn't do this often..only when he is mad....I was up at he hospital yesterday and he didn't get to go bye bye... I even took him after I got home but I guess he was still fuming... NO FAIR~!~~ He is resting comfortably with the chickens... (punishment) outside in the cold... Mess is cleaned up but I can't sleep now.

And yep willhe make the cut.... He is overmelanised for use on my undermelanised hen...He is by the famous Donna Gherke... I believe you all have heard me mention her like a bazillion times. He is a youngster and is likely carrying wheaton... but I can eat my wheaties!!! ha ha.. (just a joke here)
