It must be the water........we have soo much of it here, it has to be.

Thanks Ivy! I don't think it would be a problem using a later hatcher, I think it would be okay because they beat the odds and prove that they are strong little boogers. With Marans as you know many have chickies that hatch on days 23-25, so in my mind it wouldn't be an issue. I have no idea why it was taking so long, 'bators run great and spot on in temp. I'm telling ya...I have better hatch rates when we have a power outage and most of the time they only hatch a day late. I set chicken eggs once in the same 'bator as some Pilgrim goose eggs and at the lower temp, they hatched perfectly, even though I opened the 'bator once a day to take the goose eggs out to cool. They never cease to amaze me.

Brisk here this morning at 1*. At least the wind isn't blowing! Chooks wanted out this morning to sit in the sun and chase each other. Guess they are now integrated as all are alive and well after spending the whole day and two nights together unseperated! Even Pip still has all of his feathers

Pink ~ 27 days?? Wow, what a stinker to make you wait that long. Cuties for sure! Can't wait till mine hatch in 9 more days!! Gees, now I'll have to hold on to mine till day 27, usually pitch them on day 26. Sure hope I didn't kill any in the past

just a thought:
On the third day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
*Three French hens,*
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

And I just realized that's all I have right now for my BCMs is THREE FRENCH black copper Marans HENS
Just thought that was neat, our chickens have a Christmas song lol. Simple things for simple minds.

Geebs ~ Handsome boy there! Love the tail set and coppering, love the feathered shanks (that's NOT too much for me!), good eye color, and seration on the comb, even if there is one point too many. The only thing I don't care for is the red in the belly and breast area. To me, that is too expansive, too solid looking, too much. May just be the way he is standing, bunching the red together? I prefer very light, if any red on the breast. That's just MY preference
