That's great Mel. My husband basically lives in the barn........LOL Well, it used to be a barn. The middle of the ground floor is now my quilt/sewing room, the entire loft is his "Man Cave" (what a name), the front of the ground floor is the wood shop. We lost the big one to the fire 6 years ago. The only part that is still a barn is the back side with a few stalls that we store the hay & feed the Herefords from. If we can all live out there why can't our eggs & chicks share our home. My poor orphaned Silkie now comes into the house from the enclosed front porch on a daily basis. My friends laugh about it as she pecks at their toes under the table. I wouldn't care if she lived in here but I would have to diaper her................LOL

I believe my hatch is over this time, no other movement or anything in the 2 remaining eggs. They are kinda cool to the touch too. Yesterday I gave up hope on the GFF pullet egg in there even though it was peeping the day before, the 1 olive egg was tapping in the shell yesterday but now nadda. I did help the last one out that should have pipped yesterday by the findings this morning upon pipping it. I left the 2 for now and will probably call it quits for them tomorrow.

I love that carpet cleaning ad, when the two guys are discussing the weird stuff they have to clean. The second guy wins when he comes up with, "..an Alpaca, four dogs, and 3 free range house chickens!" Makes me laugh every time!

Cool idea for a brooder but that would never work in our house....chicks need to be locked up like Ft. Knox so they don't become dog toys!!

I was afraid my son's Chichuachua (sp) dog would get aggresssive with Sweets (the Silky). His dog is so hyper......... but she held her own & she isn't very big either................LOL. They did a stand off under the table last night.......LOL

Pink ~ I hate it when that happens! I had six in there rocking n rolling right up till the 23rd day, then nothing!! Made me ill.

You can laugh if you want but I've seen it happen countless times.

That's very interesting..................... I keep all my roos separated mostly unless they were hatch mates & have always been together. No fighting so far. Although the day a couple of the Delawares snuck out into the open pen while I was feeding was very interesting. It was the first time I saw my BCM rush to claim his ground.

Must be something in the air today, all my cockerels are fighting!! Sunny and cold. Fugs is still the main man, so far, but young Roy is the new challenger! Roy started up with Pip, and to my great amazement, Pip stood up for himself, that's a first! Sadly, he backed down right away after Roy flew up into his face!

Got to thin out the roos here!!!! C'mon builders!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for you both. Maybe I should have my husband have the generator standing by, but we rarely have an outage & I am NOT a worrier by nature.
Good luck with the rest Geebs
