Pink, this is the best pic I could get of the roo. When I bought the quad I was told they were a year and a half old, but I think they are three or four. Didn't get any eggs to take pics of. From what you can tell is he worthy??
Anyone is welcome to chime in.

I asked this question many many many months ago about my same flock. They might get gas if they eat enough - - - - but it is a high protein food!

I would feed it to mine - - - maybe some of the organic chicken feed experts on here will chime in - - - Oh Geebs where are you ? ?

They are all hatchmates and grew up together even though they are from separate sources. They were just acting stupid. Today they aren't bothering the Wheaten Marans roo that they were picking on first. I tried putting the BCM roo back in and they all attacked him so had to take him out again.

Debbi here are the Key West pics you wanted to see. Its a little sunnier today so went out this morning and got them. One is of the inside of thier coop and you can see the little egg in the right nestbox.
Key W. Roo (none of them have names yet lol) I just love this little guy!!

3 KW Hens. The wheaten looking one bending down is the one that laid the egg.

They are beautiful! I was expecting to see a red jungle fowl looking bird.....this is a very nice surprise! He's fabulous! Is that considered a gold or silver duckwing type? Lovely girls too! The last one with the lacing on the breast is my fav...sorry I don't like to play fav's but she sure is PRETTY!

I think he is a gold duckwing type but I am no expert on gamebird colors lol. I have a little phx roo that is silver duck wing and they don't look the same. There are alot of variation in color of the K. West birds due to them being from Spanish, Cuban, and Puerto Rican game birds originally. I saw one roo when I was at the rescue place that was a brown red color pattern with white spangles on his breast. I sure wish I would have gotten him as well. He was PURTY!! She also had some with blue in them but she was keeping them for her own breeding purposes or I woulda got some of them for sure !!!

Lotsapaints: Nice egg color there on the right! I like your Cuckoos. How many golden cuckoos do you have?

:rantMy question is... what kind of beans are you feeding??? and as far as flatulence??? I have no idea...Try it and see.... Uhm.... er... at your house!!!!

Raw green beans as a food is a bad idea... they are toxic.. cooked is fine... As far as legumes.... if it is in the bean family I would only feed cooked and with caution.

Hey guys on another note.... REMMI IS HOME!!! Remmi turned up... found her 1/2 froze under my porch freezing her beak off.... She is now in a warming stall with fresh grains and bread... Her feet are miscolored..I hope she doesn't lose her toes... Poor baby... She lost a lot of wieght in her 4 day missing spell.

:frowWelcome home, Remmi! Stay warm!

As far as beans- I gave them the great northern white beans that I was cooking... ham and beans. I hadn't added the ham yet. I got so involved outdoors today I forgot them on the stove and they boiled dry. They were just starting to burn on the bottom, so they weren't too burned. They looked at them with a lot of distrust for quite some time, but I see they finally ate most of them.

I just spent the last little while trying to get them back in the coop. They wouldn't go back in. I don't know why they are so afraid of that pop up door. The ones I caught and put in decided to park it right in the doorway. I had to push them the rest of the way in. I'm going to have to go out with a flashlight and catch the rest of them to put them back in.

Surely they will get the idea in a day or so!
