Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I actually like a more golden hackle color on the wheatens - more like Bachelor # 1. Really, though, I'd need a better picture of bachelor # 2 before deciding.

Remember on size - bigger isn't ALWAYS better. Deviation too far from the standard in either direction is a flaw. How much does each fellow weigh?

SO HANDSOME!!! I Choose both! :)

Speaking of egg color, here's a rainbow I collected recently:

Black Copper Marans, Cuckoo Marans (late in their cycle), Australorps, Wyandottes, and EE. I love pretty eggs!

I do need to weigh them.

I remember reading about the recent Marans shows, that one of the issues with them is they are small. So thats why Im thinking I need to concentrate on size. Ill try and get a weight on them tomorrow.

Just wondering, I hatched 25 Wheaten Marans this spring. 24 were Wheatens but one was a sport, more like a splash marans.
Is this possible?

Halo, #1 appears to have a wry tail check and see. If you notice the Blade on the Comb it has several points sticking out, this would be a fault. Very nice looking males even with the faults. The white fluff is a major fault.
