The breeder should absolutely make it right, and right now. You'll be a month behind (incubation/mailing time) is all. Make sure the parents are BOTH white if you didn't get photos before. Sorry this happened. It's frustrating.Several more hatched over night and they are all black. I emailed the breeder. I saved up for months to get the whites, and I want the whites now, not in 6 months when I can save up money again.

I'm not complaining about 6 chicks out of 18 eggs, I am well aware that shipped eggs often hatch poorly. So no blame to the breeder there, the eggs were packed well.
I emailed the breeder a couple days ago and no reply. This is a very reputable breeder who is placing well in the shows. It's possible she was out of town or something and didn't see my email yet. But if I don't hear today, I'll email again.
The eggs were marked with codes on the ends (not variety names, just mysterious strings of letters and numbers). I will take a picture of the hatched and unhatched eggs showing the codes so she will know what she sent me.
Nope. Not necessarily. Once an egg is incubated, you cannot tell whether it was fertile or not.
