Wheatens are beautiful!

Why do some people not like Wheatens? I have a wheaten cockeral that is (IMO) the coolest looking bird I have ever seen. I love the contrasting colors.

I don't think it's that people don't like the wheatens. It's just that they don't like having the wheaten gene hidden in the black coppers. They should be two seperate varieties. I have a beautiful wheaten hen that came from my black copper pair and I have no plans on giving her up (also got a gorgeous wheaten silkie/marans cross from my boy). But in the spirit of good breeding, I'm giving mine up.

I think what you are hearing is the folks who want BCM and find they have wheaten blood in them. NOT a good thing. Wheatens as a variety are just fine, but not if you want BCM.

I am hoping my blue copper doesn't have any wheaten in his blood line. Love the color but aiming for Splash or black copper. I hope the eggs hatch though

I was hoping to hear from some people who have raised Marans - Blue/Black Copper. At what age do they lay before they start to slow down or stop?

I have 2 Lavender Marans Roos for sale, 15.00 a piece. I am in Oregon and will not ship, sorry. Need to find good homes for them ASAP. 1 has just started to crow and I can't have roos where I live.

They make a no crow collar. I hear it works well for those who want to keep their cocks without letting the neighbors know. I have no personal experience though.

I just ordered one. I have a pair of Blue and black marans. I want to keep him, so this is my only option. I tried keeping my CCL roo, but the neighbors children told me he wakes their dad up. So he had to go. Then I found out about the collar. I am going to give it a try.
