You guys are horrible. I must now have ALL these colors!

I have the Black Coppers, Blue Coppers and Blue Splash and they are all beautiful to me.

Rustywoman,

For what it's worth, I like the roo in the second pic. The first and third pics are of the same roo, or are they? Looks like you got your captions on the wrong pic? Anyway, the second picture is the roo I like. I like the other one's comb a bit better, but this one has better coloring, at least to my novice eyes!

Hi Ruth

Thank you for the warm welcome.

To start with, it's a Black Copper. I don't think we need to tag a country name to it. We have tried to write the standard as the French have done but as with every other country the equivalent of the APA requires things written in their terms.

1. the proposed APA standard actually calls for a 45 degree tail angle, not 60. Any tail angle higher than 45 will be considered a defect.
2. The French standard does NOT actually include a DQ for tail angles over 60. The complete DQs in the official French standard read: "
Disqualifying Defects
Lack of size; white or yellow ear-lobes; light-coloured or black eyes; tarsi without feathers, black or yellow; triangular body frame;
horizontal or leaning forward body. Cock weighing less than 3 kg; Hen weighing less than 2.2 kg."

3. The proposed color standard is currently being revised, so any discussion of leg color should wait until the revision is completed.

She is a very nice bird, one to be proud of. All we have to do now is breed some males like her.

Good morning all. Went to feed the chicks this morning and was greeted with a surprise. Today, they are 41 days old, and as I was scooping out the feed, I heard what sounded like a garbled crow?? Had to laugh, and looked in at the roo, "Fuglee". With that he stands up tall, flaps his wings, and let's a really good "good morning" crow out!

It was histerical to see this small guy let out such a big crow! At 41 days, isn't that a tad young to be crowing?? Heard one of the pullets the other day, making a cluck-cluck too, instead of the peep. Ahh children, they grow so fast!

Congrats on the new noisemaker Debbi I don't know what is early and late anymore... I can tell you this... I am up to early!!! I ain't quite crowing yet... That is after the cup O joe... (still gotta make it) DRAT!!! Can we teach our chickens to make coffee along with the eggs?

Top of the mornin' to ya geebs! Yes, I was up at 5 this morning. The builders are here setting posts for the run!! May actually be able to get these birds out of my house in a couple of days!!

I looked through some of the old posts for young crowers. Some said they had 5 day old chicks crow?? Some said 5 weeks, some 5 months, some more than a year, so guess there is nothing set in stone. Sure hope they get this run finished quickly, otherwise, my Quaker parakeets will pick up the crowing, then I'll never have any peace!
