Pbirdhaven, I'd like to suggest you pull that Sneezer and/or sneezers, guarantine/treat/etc.

Also be sure you are practicing biosecurity and seeing your sick pen last and changing clothes, washing shoes, body etc.

Also suggest you might want to bring up the sneezing

To the emergencies and disease section

Also here is a great resource from ranchhand.

Hope this is helpful. Nancy

Thanks, Nancy! I appreciate all the advice I can get. I've had the entire coop in quarantine as those that aren't sneezing have been exposed to those that do. Treated with teramycin (spelling!) but that didn't seem to help. I didn't think about the disease section but will do that.

Peace!

Sorry to interrupt, but could someone tell me how to sex Black Coppers? My eggs hatched and I have 2 chicks. Since there are only 2, and if they happen to be the same sex, I won't have others to compare to.

And we are VERY thankful for all of your help and insight, Don. You've taught us all so much and I know I, for one, am very appreciative.

I just discovered a Marans Club site that has the most awesome pictures of BCMs and explains everything in English and in a way that I can understand. With lots of pictures of true French Black Copper Marans (Brown Reds) and pictures of faults. It's the Australia French Marans site:

http://frenchmaransclubaustralia.yolasite.com/notes-on-breeding.php

All this time I've been trying to visualize what a true French BCM actually looks like, not, just what it "should" look like. So take a look at the link, scroll down and there you go. For me, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Hope you all find this as helpful as I did.

from what i read , the davis(most wonderful lady was so nice to me ) line has a small amount of teasdale ,it was cleaned up from what i read , i am getting nicebirds from the line, and i also have presley mixed (by them )with kellerman line ,,,, its a small world out there .... i thinkl every imperfect marans came from one bird lol and all the good birds came from a special hatched sport by no one else but them ..... i am sticking with the easy ones ,, wheatens .....
