I answered this but it disappeared - - -so let me try again - - -

My eggs were to be PICK UP and I told them that when I requested a price quote. I live 2 hours from them and have picked up from their farm before. No fancy packing needed or risk due to shiping.

Well that does kinda make sense but I like to take a picture of my rooster with his egg and document the blessed event digitally...

I see the merit in it now!!! ... Eggs are much simpler.. Thanks for clearing that up Bev!!

Whats your incubator? Is that a Hova bator?

Any suggestions for some one on a budget? I understand Marans eggs can be a bit tough to hatch?

Those eggs ah those eggs..

ON

I am at the same stage of the egg waiting game. My BC Marans pullets are 19 weeks. I am also interested in what is a good bator for Marans hatching for someone on a budget. I am hoping to breed my Roo that some of you critiqued in this thread about 3 weeks ago, with the pullets after they have been laying for awhile.

Ok, I have a question for you. I have a couple of FBCM hens and a FBCM rooster. I have no idea what set of genes they have. So, the question I have for you guys.......... can you tell what type of bird you have by any particular traits? I can't remember all the names but would I know if I had a Bev Davis bird, for instance by looking at them? Or would a blood test be needed. I'm just curious.

What's happening with my blue roo?

Hi all, just wondering if you would check out my Marans and let me know what's what. My pretty blue roo is getting some new golden coloring on his head! I thought he had all his color, just not his crow yet. Should I expect more color as he gets older? What would this coloring be called....if it is a color. Also including pic's of my two girls. Any feed back would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Anne

He is showing that if you breed to a black copper hen you will get good coppering on the offspring... It tells you that he has copper neck genes...
