Hi

Hi

I haven't seen a chick like your splash before, could you tell me what parents it had please? It is quite an interesting bird, it does remind me of a splash golden salmon but it has different coloring. Very interesting!

Ok, some strange happenings here today! Took the 4 weekers and Pip (9 weeks) out to the coop/run today for some more inter-chickening mingling. As I stated here this morning, Both my 14 week roo, and the now 9 week roo are crowing since 8 weeks. Now the older roo has NEVER crowed after his initial morning-just-let-out-of the coop crow. Fuglee crows 8-10 times first thing in the morning, then NEVER again for the rest of the day. Now, today, when I had the young chicks and 9 wk. old Pip in the run (fenced off from the older terrorists), Fuglee starts crowing. Fine I think, just feeling manly...but THEN I see him, 14 WEEK old Fuglee, trying to mount one of the 14 week old pullets, and she is squatting in submission!!

NO, no mistake, been on this planet long enough to know the breeding posture.. been there, done that, seen it many times before! Is Fuglee just feeling threatened and getting a surge of testosterone, or should I be worried about him actually DOING THE DEED at 14weeks!?????? Seems to me now that I have answered my own question about the early crowing thing, BUT THIS??? Is it possible??

Would you all kindly take a look at My BCM Roo he is 8 months old and hatched from a #8 egg. I just test hatched 18 eggs and 17 out of 19 had featherd shanks! I really like this guy just looking for some feed back! Thanks:cool:

If you keep up with the BLUES, you will need to consider changing your name to "bluechick"

No can do on swaying away from the "Pink!"

Why the blues??? OMGosh.....when I see them out running around in the sun and in all their glory.....I can't get enough of them! Something about that "blue" that just steals my heart.

Oh and "IF" there was a PINK chicken out there I would be all over it for sure, know that! I''ll settle for being the only "Pink Chick" in my little "blue heaven" chickendom.

keithallen1965 Okay... Nice color balance... I usually prefer a rooster with a little lighter shank and the tail covert are rather long for this breed... I am not sure but it looks in this picture like the tail is more than the desired 45 degrees.. His eye color is good and his horn color.... and the ear coverts appear to be in the acceptable range..I do see a little white on the wing, however this may go away post molt. Lenght of back is good...wattles good... He has a general appealing look to him.. Comb is pretty.

Now the hen is just aweful (joking) and you need to stuff her in a box and ship her to me immediatly... (picture a smiley emoticon stealing you chicken here)

keithallen1965,

As a whole, I like your roo. Really like the hen in the background! To fault him, I think his tail is set too high, boardering squirrel tail,. For me, his hackle coloring is too lightly colored, his comb seems to be attached to the back of his head, where the blade of the comb is supposed to be off the neck. He needs to fill out more body-wise, but he is young, and that looks like it will come. I think he is a nice, typey boy and wouldn't cull him out of my flock just yet! JMHO
