ok here goes! I have one roo and two hens, BCM. My roo seems nice, hens are a bit small but all are about 20wks and are still growing. No eggs yet.

Let me know what you think of the roo, should I put eggs in the incubator when the time comes?

His eyes seem dark, his feet have feathers on the middle toe (not too worried about that as the girls are a bit light on leg feathers) but other than that what do you see?

I like both of your birds! Your boy is a real chunky-monkey!

He should fill out some more as he ages, in the breast to belly area. To fault him, and it might just be the way he is standing, he looks to have a shorter neck than I like. That middle toe feather is a DQ, I believe. Not sure if he'll pass that on, but it is sure possible. I like his comb, color, back, and tail set. Can't see his eye too well, how dark is it? Your hen looks very typey from what I can see of her. Looks like you are off to a good start!

By the way, check that middle toe again. Is the base of the feather actually coming out of the middle toe, or did you possibly see some feathers from the outter toe lapping over to the middle? I had to look twice at my furry little avatar, his overlaps from the outside toe!

wYes, I also feel his neck is rather short. He does actually have a few short feathers on his middle toe. His eyes are dark but seem to be getting lighter with age. I have heard people say time and again that if you breed too much feather with too little feather it comes out in the wash, so I assumed the chicks would come out just right. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I am very new to all of this. Any comments I make, are my own personal opinion, from what I've garnered here and other sites. Seems the thick feathering/no feathering should be an easy fix. That said, it may be a different story with middle toe feathering. I'm sure others with more experience will chime in here later on. I still like him, and you really are lucky to have such a good start.

now that you say it you are right I have never heard toe feathering vs thickness of feathering. Hopefully someone else with chime in with the answer.

I would like show worthy animals, but will settle for not messing the breed up too bad. I have some juveniles on order with greenfire farm, and am waiting for them to send me some even nicer birds.... hopefully worth the price payed!
