Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Just to clarify, this thread is about having APA propaganda shoved down our throats, when not asked for?

Would it be okay, moderator, if I start a new thread for Marans for the French Standard and/or Egg Color? Or would that be a double-posting and thus force me to endure this nauseating APA talk?

Darth, are you having a bad day?

I do not moderate this thread as I too heavily post on it, but I have requested another moderator to pop in.

We breed to the American standard which is BASED ON the French standard, fyi. We do not breed to the French standard.

There is already a dark egg thread.

I respectfully disagree. We simply discuss it. There may be some that are hinged on the proposed standard and voice their opinions or advise, no harm meant I'm sure of that. This is a learning thread and I feel that many folks including myself have learned very important and vital facts of the Marans here.
Again, just my humble opinion.

I thought Don's statement was pretty neutral. I'm not sure where you are coming from in your response.

It's just that there's always a gratuitous and unsolicited "APA this, APA that..." or "this bird does not meet the proposed APA standard because..." or "the French standard means nothing" or "egg color means nothing".

I suppose that is one of those "In the eye of the beholder" things. There are a number of people here who are very interested in how their birds conform to the APA proposed standards. BTW: the APA did not propose the Marans Standard, one of the Marans clubs did.
Because of that, you will find posts that mention the APA. Anyone can take any bird and do whatever they like with that bird, but a group on this thread are interested in conforming to a Standard. French or American it doesn't matter......unless you plan on showing in the US. This is pretty much what Don said.

Many of the comments in this thread are unsolicited. Is the APA an evil association that should not be mentioned on BYC? I'm just curious why this bothers you.

Nobody has answered my question as to whether it would be considered Double Posting to start a thread on Marans to the French Standard and/or Marans for Dark Eggs.

I have now asked twice, the first time being in the appropriate forum and the question was ignored.

The Dark Egg Breeds thread is just that, Dark Egg Breeds. Shall I post everything Marans there and further hijack it from the other breeds, more than it already is?
