They shipped them today, so I should have them by Tuesday. Supposed to be Davis line, so we'll see. Hopefully, I'll have some blue pre-Christmas presents for myself!

Sorry to hear about the white feather pink. He is still gorgeous regardless. Are you sure his feather wasn't tramatically pulled out by another chicken and just grew back in white? I have found that a few of mine that got thier neck feathers pulled out, have grown back white and then changed from white back to the original color. I have blk/split lav pullet that happened to and that is when I first noticed that that could happen. I found white feathers had grown in where they were originally black and after watching them for awhile, I noticed that the bottom part of the feathers near her skin were coming back in black again. Same thing happened to a wheaten female and also a couple males that lost thier hackle feathers fighting.

Read on here awhile back about Black Oil Sunflower Seeds.
I have some questions about that, for those who use it.

I can get the black seeds here, Hungary is a large producer of sunflower oil, the huge fields of sunflowers are amazing in the summer.
But do you feed them hulled or whole?
Someone said they sprout them first if I remember that right. How many days do you soak them?

I remember Don said not too much in warmer weather - that's because it's too many calories?

Thanks

I feed mine whole. They love them! I feed them as treats in the summer, and mix in with their normal rations in the winter.

i was only saying that you (anyone) cant get that many generations in five years ,,,,i have a little over 2 years and all i have is the origonal stock from hatched eggs , and 2 generations more,so i should have around 5 in 5 years , i am still waiting on f2 to start laying , they are at pol but winter hit and all have stoped ,,,,,started birds would be the
best way to go and it would be so nice to see the finished product first but my personal favorite wheaten are impossable to find within200 miles ,but black copper are avalable close and local but i am not up to that battle and breeding them is not easy and a fight and takes alot of knowledge,,,,,Anyway back to what I was talking about , I read somewere that the APA requires you(anyone ) to have been breeding for five years concsistantly to enter a new color and it seems like a short time and not that many generations
