Hi, I grind fresh and also sprout.
Feel free to PM me if you want info on the sprouting..
Most folks feed them whole as a treat.. I use then as part of my formulated feed. (You can see that on my byc page)
I do not worry about summer as it does not get very hot where I am and the birds free range so they eat very little feed.

Hi everyone! We are hoping to add a few black copper marans to our small flock this upcoming year. We are in Eastern NC and wondering if there are any breeders anywhere from Raleigh --> east? (that ideally we could buy from within driving distance and not ship)

If not, can anyone recommend a reputable breeder that can ship babies? Between me & a friend of mine we'd probably want 4-5 girls and one rooster. We dont need "show quality" birds, but we'd like "decent" quality birds in case we want to hatch a few eggs down the road (for ourself, not to sell)

Also, what would you expect to pay for "decent" (not show) quality BCM chicks? Anything, or any sources I should steer away from?

Any and all info appreciated

*jumping for joy* Our blue copper marans hen hatched June 15 just laid her first egg!!!
She has been in and out of the nest box all day and just now we found it laying broken half-way up the ramp on the other coop!! I guess it finally slipped out!
Pictures will come when she finally gets it right, but we are tickled pink right now:)
