Alas.....we are forever chasing tomorrow.

I am sure......but I do appreciate your kindness. DH only agrees to drive the entire trip, if I can make it happen with the freeloaders as he calls them. Ohhh.....you know what.....I believe that it is against the law to transport birds from state to state. Don't gasp, but that is what I was told by Oregon and Washington Dept. of Agriculture. So, it looks like I will be just attending and not taking a bird if we make it there next Feb., but we can always show our birds here in the PNW.

Pink ~ That can't be true, or there'd be a bunch of illegal chickens and people at these shows! I would almost bet they would need a state vet's health certificate saying they were free of disease and bugs though. Every time I had to ship a dog, the health certificate was required. Maybe you can ask about it on the MCCU group? Or, better yet, Walt would know!

Yes.... but it isn't illegal to ship eggs to friends in strategic locations.

that is a great question!! I already have birds there.. no biggy Wanna ship eggs with me... You ship Charmins and I will ship Ghiradelli's... just for fun!!!

I think this year will be the fun year because of the possible APA approval.. there will be soooo many birds there!!!! I am just honored to have a friend willing to take them.

Yes, a health certificate is needed for each state of destination, but I was told it was needed prior to entering each state. I'm just quoting the Dept of Ag. But I believe she told me that if I had WA. State NPIP cert. (WA State NPIP is extremely cost prohibitive), I would just have to apply or get the testing done for each state even with the NPIP. I will look around for more concise info on this and yes hopefully someone that knows for sure can help out. I'm quite positive there are "illegal" chickens everywhere.

That's a bit crazy on their (USDA's) part then! Gees, you can ship grown chickens across country through the mail without all that. There's a thought, mail your chickens to the show!

Uh ya.... Debbi.... you are behind the 8 ball on that count... mind touched down in April.. ha ha....

Sorry to bring bad news once again........but, live birds being shipped in the U.S. must be accompanied with NPIP or health certification papers as well.....and I hesitate to even say this but hatching eggs are suppose to be NPIP too. If I am mistaken.........someone PLEASE correct me.

I'm really going to go and hide now!

It is not REQUIRED in all states. Some states have thier own programs.
