Finally some progress! One is almost hatched. One is still in the same pip position as it was this morning, but still moving, and one is still rocking his fool head off. Should have the one totally out within a half hour or less. These were of course, shipped eggs, and they were very cold when I got them. Amazing to me how these babies can buck the odds!

Bought a "pie pumpkin" yesterday for the chooks. Fed it to them today. Holy cow!!! I can see I'll have to plant some pumpkins in next year's garden, they LOVED IT!!! Too bad it was so small (3#? maybe), to share between 10 chooks, but they all got their fair share, and tonight there was nothing left but half of the skin!

AND...I got a very much darker egg today from my pullet!! Will take pics tomorrow, I am pleased!!

Yes , Debbi they love the pumpkins! I grew about 20 and then when they where gone, got 10 more from local farm market at the end of season. My birds love the seeds and will eat down to the skin. Rumor has it that pumpkin seeds are natural worm prevenative! Plus it gives the flock something to do....Luv those big orange 20 lb. pumpkins....

Yes Dave, I've heard that about the worm preventative too, hope it's so. Usually, these guys look at new stuff like a toddler looks at spinach!

I was very surprised they attacked it with so much gusto! I love pumpkin too, so may just plant a bunch up in the pasture where they can spread and get big! One baby is here...today was a good day

Well, it seems I am the only one here tonight?? The pipper is finally starting to zip, albeit slowly. The hatchling is in the other bator drying off, and does indeed look to be blue. On that note, if I don't see anyone here after this post, I hope you all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
