I hope you keep working on your BCs Don you're a perfectionist on everything as for the correct color I think it takes more than birds the right color you need 3 colors to get it right and you will always have color culls but if you have conformation....I raise palomino horses and to get the right color isn't easy even if you cross the same 2 horses many times. It does help though if the male is correct funny how color is in many species....

I have no way of knowing but have always been told the males produces the right color and the female produces the type. This has always worked with me and am too old to change now. I realise both have something to say about but believe this is the right way to go.

The only thing I see with the BC Marans is it will take many year to get them to produce consistent, I really am not convinced that I can get them to produce consistent with everything they have going on genetically. I am convinced that I can raise a few good ones but that is not acceptable. Don

Math... nice gazebo....(new chicken coop

thanks Lotsapaints

and Harris5: What a joy!!! That is a great looking flock of cuckoo... The leg feathering will be your chore but the general shape and presentation of the birds... The male... Supreme example of the breed.... for shape and color... Of course the feathering on the leg is going to be a project.

Let's see the wheaties!!! Sorry to hear the guy is such an (*%^(*&&^ about the BC's... I guess he can eat them if he likes....They are his birds. Sad when you think someone is a good steward and they turn out to be a jerk.... I feel sad about that.
