Yep, days getting longer and some of the freeloaders, that would be some of my layer hens, have commenced laying in the last week and I'm pretty much in your same type environment here in N. IN. Come on Spring!!

For sure! By the way...

Hi, will give you what I can see from the picture. The female appear to have white ear lobes, the Male is very short in Back, male has very short legs, male sickles are extra long and make the tail look larger than it really is. With the one female having white legs something has been mixed in . Male does appear to have a nice rounded chest, the short back throws off the TYPE. Don

What a pretty splash boy. I named my little splash roo Muddy Waters because he's got copper splash, probably, places he's not supposed to. His dark blue sister's name is Sippie

Harris5 I love your golden cuckoos. They are nice looking. The roo's comb needs a little work but then again who's doesn't lol. Only mentioning that part because you said you wanted a critique

Don ~ That pic with the white ear lobed hens appear to be Wellies, if I'm not mistaken, in the first pic?? The angle of the first pic makes the roo's legs look short, but I think it's the photo angle, look at the next, frontal pic of the roo. I sure wouldn't throw him to the coyotes! JMHO.

Don, the females don't have white ear lobes, may have been my picture taking skills. Do you think I should get rid of these and just worry about the FBCM?

Debbi, I have welles, what you saying I can't tell the difference. You know that I like a higher station Marans and never a short leg Marans. Don

I see what yall are seeing now, the hens with white ear lobes are brown leghorn. I just keep them for selling eggs.

Ok, I knew they couldn't be Marans! Thanks for clarifying that! At first glance at that pic, I thought they were light hackled Marans hens till I saw the ear lobes, then looked at the body color better.
