Got chicks?????

3 weeks ago my bcms started laying like crazy, so I had to set the best eggs of the bunch, and voila!

And I have more to hatch next week!

They look yellowish because they are under an incandescent light...

oh, those 2 little brown chicks are bantam partridge Wyandottes...

So, this is mainly for Wynette, here's the hen I've been talking about that I finally got a photo of. She's from Wynette's eggs and not only is one of my two favs of the BCM hens, but also lays the darkest eggs at the moment.

No, her tail is not normally like that, and no the orange headed pullet behind her is not a Marans.

The black hen to the right of her with the odd, single white feather on the head is her hatchmate.

Illia that is a nice looking hen! If it lays has nice an egg as you say it would be a real asset to anyone's breeding program. If she gets cold or malnurished or lonesome....send here my way, I have room and would gladly help you out.

Debbi, they ran air raids into the early 70's in my neighborhood as a kid. That's not THAT long ago.

OVER 5 hours during PRIME TIME and no marans postings . . ..

I will take some pictures of my new chicks tomorrow. I ended up with 5 blue copper and 7 black copper marans. I hatched 5 Olive eggers that look just like the black copper marans except for the additional beards and muffs. OMG, they are so cute.

I am trying wing feather sexing again. I am commited to hatching until Dh and I get the hang of it.

BUT it was harder to do in real life

That should help with the feed bill and some crowing. He is going to a 4-Her for Olive egg production.

Kathy~ Congratulations! Someone in the Marans pen laid their first egg here yesterday too! My Barnevelder pullet finally started laying 4 days ago as well.
