Sounds fun! I've got some black coppers, cuckoo, black and blue birchens...its a test hatch, so there's also a couple wild card mixes in there I thought I'd try just for fun. I'm kinda hoping for a couple of blue cuckoos...but won't know til they decide if they want to hatch or not.

Good luck to you too!

Hahaha!! I'm doing the exact same thing...its amazing how much stuff one can accomplish when trying not to think about chicks coming. What kinds of chicks are you expecting?

wow, what a hunk !
How old is he ?
Oh and thanks for everyone's comments about the SCMs..and I too hatch at 35% for 18 and 55% or so at lockdown, but get this, our humidity outside is 80% !!
so gotta take that into consideration.
Whe I was in California, it was sometimes so hard to get the bator to build humidity up to 50%, here in WA on the rainforst coast, it is sometimes no need to add a sponge at all~~all depends on where you live.
But my Marans hatch the same as the Ameraucanas or any of my other eggs.
OK, back to my state of insanity~~

That's great!! How dark were the eggs they came from?. My Cuckoos are hatchery stock & their egg color is no good at all. They could be RIR & they are a little pointed too...................

These come from hens I got from an old guy in California..who sold chicks to a feed store.
I scooped as many as I could.
But no cocks !!
The eggs the pullets laid from day one, were huge and dark for a cuckoo..

especially for a pullet. They never laid fart eggs.
The eggs differ from day to day as dark, or dark with speckles or a deeper light brown.
That is the next thing to deal with, is to see how this feather legged generation's egg color will be and go from there.
But, their eggs are BIG!

Congratulations on the feather legs. It looks like you have a sportsman incubator under the flower pots. Does the warmth from the incubator help the plants start faster? Better watch that chickie. He might just decide those sprouted plants would make a tasty treat!

yup, good eyes there !!
That is egg zactly what is helping the tomatoes and squash grow

It is a 1500~~
