Hi Jennifer!
Welcome to the Marans thread!

Thank you for posting photos of your boy..he looks like he is a sweetie. I am sure someone who works with Cuckoo's will come by and see him and share their opinions with you.

Mine are all hens, but none have the gold in the hackles or saddle that is shown in your Roo...mine don't have any white in the tails either, but I'm really new to this....lets hear from someone who knows...

Not a good picture and I can't tell if this is a "big beefy" boy he looks shallow but has a nice long back he has common faults that we all battle with: more than 2 white feathers in the tail and yellowing or brassiness and it looks like your guy's comb lists off to the side not good either and is your guy English or does he have feathered shanks? American birds are going to need feathered shanks.....

Yup, he looks a bit gold on my screen, too; however, feathers can get a goldish sheen like that from too much corn in the feed (as in feeding a bit too much scratch) or being out in the sun a lot - it's kind of hard to tell in the pic. What color are his eyes? Camera made them red!

So what color would you call this one we have-he's a 2 month old cuckoo and of course tried to stay far away from the camera as possible.

He's actually a very nice boy and is hanging out with 5 chicks a month younger than him and they all get along just fine-in fact the smaller ones try to hide under him!

I just got him so I am really not too sure what the people that had him before me fed him. I will have to look at his eyes more closely next time and take another pic of them.
