There is no WELL DEFINED POINT, its a bump! So that's what caught me off guard. But I will do as the other lady suggested and send to a specific person in the APA and politely ask.

I will gather the roo up and try to get more pics of his comb. I do NOT see a defined sprig at all, no point but more photos will help!

On another note, after studiously reading, taking notes and applying techniques learned here, we've had a pretty good hatch so far. 23 eggs set and 14 hatched so far! We did have to remove 9 chicks to the brooder because it was just too danged crowed in the incubator.

I would like to comment on the side sprig bump thing a little...

I personally think it should be a cull point particularly in this breed as it "could"...not necessarily "is" pointing to a possible Penedesenca mixing in the line...That alone makes it a cull in my book.... It can pop up later... Imagine that you have the perfect male.... (like there is one) but that everything else is perfect but that... And he could pass it on... Why risk it? It is something that breeds forward and hides.. I can't see throwing a dice on that as it could pollute your further stock.... I don't know whether it is a fault or a DQ but I would treat it like cancer... Cut it out... Just because of what it means in general... That is my opinion... Everyone else can do what they see fit... I am careful where I buy from because like Don... I too have gotten more than my fair share of the mix.. If you are selling Chocolate eggers... (knowing they are a mix) I can see justifying this... Just don't mix your pens... It is a sticky wicked... This has overall a long term predictable outcome.

Seabreeze if you are so intent on breeding this male why not do a test mating and see what you get. If the female doesn't have sprig genetics it is very likely you will not have any chicks with the sprigs. Don

Well...put a few eggs into lockdown this morning...we'll see how it goes..most of them are of the mauve shades, so I'll see if they hatch. Haven't had much luck with them hatching so far... so I tossed in a few cuckoo eggs for an order for someone, to at least have something hatch haha....I'm such a nerd

Galavina You would likely have the best luck if you only hatch those... THey have such a thick coating of bloom... they will likely take longer.. 25-26 days... Let em ride..... If you hatch somethng that hatches earlier...you foil the hatch... I have had success this way... Or..... put them under a broody... they can hatch the hyroglyphs from the rocks!!!!
