I agree with you about adding birds from this line or that line...it's the overall bird and genetics or history of genetics of the bird or their line that carries forward and this is where the body issues can come in.....my whole point is that any bird any color can have issues that it brings with it to the program...but I sincerely do not believe that the color Blue or Splash itself causes issues with body type.

Thanks Village! I was baffled by the color combination. Is this typical or atypical? Anything worth preserving or attempting to work from? I don't particularly like the head AT ALL, its downright ugly but its a substantial body, looks correct in back length, tail set and I can take some pics from the front but its pretty broad fronted as well. Feathered shanks, outside toe, none on other toes. I am thinking if he's of little or no value, he will be the plate, not mate, type

So for these colors to come about in the first place, what combined with what combined with what gave this conglomeration? (sorry if you answered that question, I just can't get it straight in my brain)

I went into my coop today and picked up a hen that was setting (fingers crossed she may be broody? HAHA) and she has NO copper at all in her hackles or anywhere on her body, lightly feathered shank, outer toe only and appears all black. Would she be considered a black Marans and what happens when bred to a copper hackled BCM roo? Or should she be separated out and utilized to develop a black line?

I rarely post here. But I would recomend coming over to the washingtonians thread, and asking if anyone has what your looking for. You might be able to pick up eggs or chicks at the Stevenson show this weekend if you are still going.

it seems I always get one that is a funny color what do you think Village this one has the Mahogany gene? This one will be fun to see what color it ends up anyways
