Math- You need to go to bed, girl. Get some sleep so you will be ready to finish that coop.

You are already WAY ahead of me. With out rain it is too muddy to get back to the old barn with the skidsteer to pick up all the old block that is laying around, and I'll be durnden if I am going to haul that all out of there by hand!

I bet it will be the end of summer at best before my barn is ready for chickens.

I personally like a little less spindly comb points, out here where it gets cold, I think a chunkier comb that is more blade base and less point height survives the cold better. I wonder if there is an ideal, like 50% blade:50% points, or 60% blade and 40% points. I wonder what pleases judges more? I know most of us are just happy to get 5 uniform points.

robnms, I thought that second pic looked like Ruth's birds! Her pic gets used a lot!

VC, As to the proportion of points to blade ratio, personally, I would love to see the 5 points, evenly serrated, and a neat, off the neck blade, that maybe encompasses about 1/4 of the comb. I agree with you about the height of the points, it is rough on the roos in the cold weather. I had some get some frostbite this past winter, but luckily, it has healed and no height was lost.
