we removed the splint off the little black chick's legs this am and it has been getting around really well all day!

Isn't splinting and hobbling amazing? I had never done that before with any success....now I'm gonna do it with any chicks that are showing signs of struggle

got my first chick hatched from one of several of my blue birchen project pens. Its lookin like a silvery splash. I have a few other kinds of chicks hatching as well as some for my parents, but I am just hoping I'll get more of my blues!!

I knew someone in here had one! Saw your other babies too, looking good!

I gave away the rumpless one.

I LOVE these Marans! I got rid of every Marans I had (except 2 hens) and am planning to keep these. They are 15 weeks old now, and I moved them into their own coop today. Immediately, pecking order was being established.

Ummmm they're more pink if that makes sense? Is that right? I'm new to this but I got them from a breeder in Corvallis. Kim knows him I think.

It's the combo of the FL in the basement and my phone I think.

Here's a closer pic of the second guy and then the third

Was hoping for just one now I'm scared I have three! Actually I think I may have grabbed the second guy twice.....

AyeUp-I'm guessing roosters.

I have 5 eggs in the hatcher. Well, I guess I have 3 chicks, one pipped and one zipped. The one that is zipped has the whole end of the egg cracked, but he hasn't pushed himself out for hours. The last one pipped, zipped and hatched since the one before him zipped. It is SO HARD not to reach in there and dump him out of his egg, or at least knock the end of the egg off since it is cracked all around.

Someone RESTRAIN ME!
