congrats! where did ya score such a deal at? the nice thing is that with that cheap of a price, even if you end up having to replacing parts eventually, it will still be a good deal.

by the way....I found some pygmy kids...went and got them yesterday....my doe is so happy to have little friends to hang out with again. All three of them match my doe so well you would never know they weren't from the same stock. And they all get along so well...about 20 minutes after they were here, they were totally relaxed!

I'm glad you found some companions for your doe. I know how they hate to be alone.

I'm buying the GQF on the guys word that it works great. After talking with them, I am confident that this is true. My sister sent me a link on craigslist so I called them, and now it's just a matter of getting it home. In the meantime, I will set some more eggs in my rinkydinkubator.

Sorry about your hatch

Yippie on the new bator! That is one heck of a deal!!!

Since I took 15 eggs out, I can put 15 eggs back in my RINKYDINKUBATOR. I'm trying to decide if I want to hatch some more marans or some of my other breeds. I've got plenty of eggs as everybody is laying really well. I think I'll hatch the marans.

Just one word of wisdom. If you incubator-Hatcher still has the wafer switch go to cuttlersupply and order a electronic thermostat and not worry about the wafer going out. Don

Okay.. thanks, Don. I will check it out. At this time, I'm not sure which it has. I know all the parts for the GQF are pretty reasonable. My old GQF that I sold to my sister had the wafer switch.

I hadn't thought about it, but it sounds like a good idea. Does the electronic thermostat hold a pretty constant temperature? My RINKYDINKUBATOR is electronic, and the (can't use the descriptives that come to mind) thing varies in temperature about 5 degrees or so pretty regularly.

Holds real close temps. I have had the wafer switches go out and burn up complete incubater full of eggs. Very easy to ad the new switch. I switched over all my GQF. Don

My hatch is over for the Marans...I set 15 eggs and have 11 babies running around....2 Black Coppers and the rest are Blue Coppers. I have narrowed down with this hatch that Gnarles is the bird responsible for the clean shanks happening in the pure Davis pen. Oh well.....I guess I will just continue to get a few clean shanked birds until my little Black Copper "Weeble" suppose to be pullet...turned roo..
hmm.png
......grows out and see what he may throw. Still won't get rid of or stop using Gnarles even if he produces a few clean shanked kiddos...this time both of the Black Coppers that hatched came out clean legged....none of the blues with the exception of 2 Bill babies and a blue Olive Egger baby from Bill. More babies set to hatch on Sunday so we should be hatching at the same time!!!

Hey Pink! and good morning to all!

Both of my blue babies have shank feathering!

JR. is a street sweeper, and Charlotte has a goodly amount too. Bill's daughter out of his blue feathered daughter has a few sprigs,

. The other two BCMs are naked, so those are probably the Gnarles x Davis girls. I was mostly wanting the blues to have feathering, and they do, so yea!

Mr. Pip thought he'd be contrary last night, and refuses to go back into the run when I called everyone else up. Blue Butt did it the night before, and found himself all alone in the dark until after 8pm. Storms came up, and since me and lightning don't get slong too well, well bird, you're on your own! Blue Butt was found in an old cistern up against the house! Not deep any more, as I've been filling it in over the years, but he was a good three feet down. I stuck my cane up against his breast and told him, "last chance to go inside, hang on!" He clamped on and I literally flung him out of the cistern!

He landed like a bag of wet cement, the dog almost jumped on him not knowing what it was, in the dark mind you, with my stupid flashlight blinking on and off!

What a circus! He was more than willing to be picked up and taken to his coop. Pip decided it wasn't dark enough for his big boy self to be put to bed, so he ran off in the yard. Same deal, I'm not chasing a roo in the storm! He was soaked to the bone when the lightning finally quit, and it was still pouring rain. I went out on the deck, and he immediately RAN to the run door, and stood there jumping up and down till I got there and let him in. He was so soaked he looked all black! He was much mellower this morning to me, and had dried off in the coop at night. Cocky little so and so's!
