Haha...me change my mind about a blue birchen....?!

I'm kinda going a bit stir crazy tryin to hold off as long as possible to see what little blue birchens i've got hatching in the incubator.... its a good thing I don't bite my fingernails...I'd probably chew up to the knuckle otherwise. haha

I have many pics to catch up on and many sets of chicks to sort. I've got some nice lookin splash marans I want to get a closer look at I think you'd like.

I got back this afternoon from my sister's. Arrived home with 3 black rosecomb chicks, 6 old english chicks one OLD black bantam cochin rooster that I originally raised, and TWO GQF incubators!

Since arriving home, I've had one BCM hatch and one pip out of 10 eggs. I will not use my rinkydinkubator again, at least not until some major modifications are made!

One GQF is running perfectly.

I plan to set some eggs tomorrow. The other GQF needs a thermostat. I'll have to order that. There's plenty of time. I intend to use that one just as a hatcher.

Had a great time with my sister. We went to a swap meet, her poultry club meeting and found some cool chicken "stuff" at a flea market. I learned a few things, and taught some others a few things. Sis had chicks hatching over the weekend, so we got to fuss over those all weekend, too.

Anyone know of some great little SQ bantam black cochin pullets or hens I can put in with my old rooster?

Kim she got TWO for $10 at the swap! She said can I get your opinion on one and I was like

Can anyone tell me about the "No White" rule?

More specifically, if my youngsters don't show any white down/base of feathers after they shed their peep fuzz, am I in the clear?

Or do I have to wait until after the juvenile molt to find out?

I checked out my 3mth olds today and they are all pin feathers in the hackles, but no white that I could see on the neck or at the base of the tail.

The other youngsters don't show any white right now, either, other than white wing tips on a few - which should shed out.


I know I'm picking out certain details, but I'm learning piece by piece!!
