Hi Debbie

The plant on the left is Brugmansia (white with the triple bloom) it is related to Datura but grows into a tree-like shrub and can be overwintered dormant in the basement or wherever when it freezes. The blooms on Brugmansia (aka Angel's Trumpets) point down and daturas point up (hence the nickname Devil's Trumpets). The bougainvillea is the bright pink one and I threw that bluish bloom (hibiscus) on there because it got knocked off the plant and kinda matched her feathers LOL! The chickens never have tried to eat the brugmansia flowers or leaves etc. and I have tons of them. They do scratch around at the bottom and dirt bathe. I keep the seeds picked up just in case though. I think they have a bitter nasty taste or something. I know someone who has goats and thier goats wouldn't even eat them.

Well, I learn something new every day. I had purchased them as "Angel's Trumpets", but these do point up. They sure do smell pretty! Maybe I'll keep a pot of them on my deck. That is a "Chicken Free Zone"! So far anyway!

I wish I had an outdoor chicken free zone sometimes. I am making a screen room of sorts to put my little preformed ponds in and I am gonna put a door on it...NO chickens allowed LOL!
I have this one blue rooster who, wherever I sit down in the yard, he jumps up on my lap and expects me to scratch his neck and then he goes to sleep on me. He can get really annoying about it though. Like if I don't do it, he will try and nip me sometimes, little terd. He doesn't hurt me but is like an insistent cat that wants constant attention.
Today the freerange group got up on the patio and sat on the top steps cuz it was raining and pooped EVERYWHERE! I need to fence it all off. Now I have to go clean it all off because I am expecting a package and don't want the mail lady to freak LOL!

Yeah the nurseries just throw a generic 'Angels Trumpets' on both brugs and datura lol. I didn't the difference either until I started hybridizing them and joined the brugmansia society.

One of these days I'll actually have a bit of time to really chat more and pick brains but I just HAD to share this picture and it's the reason I'll be out in the woods all day. The morels are behind my house right now!!!!!

AyeUp, are these the ones you were telling me grow around the oak trees or was that a different schroom?

I'll trade some for some of that amazing chick feed! Do you think that bloke would sell me some btw?

Mine are super docile, too - I actually had to get rid of a rooster because he was such a lazy breeder! HA!

Whose line are yours, Kathy?

D'Amico strain.

Where could I learn more about this line? Do they have a website?
