SUPER GLUE ? ? ?

Have you seen those gluey papers to catch mice on? Something like that might work?

Great ideas everyone!!! For tonight I have used that clear packing tape and taped an egg to the trip plate, maybe I will get him in the morning, he had already ruined an egg this morning early when I went down to check on everyone. The gluey papers will be the next step..........

If you put enough of the sticky mouse trap stuff in there I'm sure you would catch the bird as well as keep him from stealing the egg!

Good luck!

Debbi- Thank you. I've got the flowers to put in it, and I just got the rest of the supplies I need. I'm going to put cardboard down underneath it, and then mulch over that so I don't have to mow to close or pull weeds around it. I'm eager to get to planting!

I had decided NOT to set any more chicks for now...... THEN one of the hens laid the darkest egg I've had since last fall. It's a super one, so I guess I will try to hatch it along with some of the other commoners.

Morning!

Hope all is well with everyone! Hoping to get the rest of my garden finished today. You can tell the weather is "nice". It's quiet as a mouse in here. Good luck with that jay zanna!

Have a great day!

Zanna,

The mouse sticky pad is a great idea, but make sure none of your chickens can get to it! What a mess that would be.

Sounds like it's going to nice here today too. Big storm last night evidently, but I slept right through it. Too wet to get the tiller in the garden, so more manual weed pulling. Need to set up some nest boxes around the yard. The girls have been laying willy-nilly and everywhere, and I see my dog has started to find them faster than I am.

Pip has decided to play "Uncle" with Pink's chicks. He really watches over them and keeps them from harm. He refuses to leave the run to free range, and prefers to stay in with them. Once they get a wee bit bigger, they can go out with the big birds to graze. The little ones are OUT of HERE today!!

Me thinks you are going to beat me to getting photos. Did you get any good ones to share?? I think I will finally be home a bit tomorrow to get some stuff done. I sure hope anyways. I'm burning the candle at both ends lately and am feeling good about the progress....my oldest brother is flying in from Louisiana the second week of july and will be here for 10 days helping around the place. My other brother is also coming towards the end of that week with his family from Texas to help. I'm thinking if I keep plugging away from now until then on the inside of the barn and haymount...that just possibly...maybe...if all goes right...we'll be able to reroof the barn!! I will just be over the moon if that happens!

Yep I managed to get a few photos. It was horrible hot and we have wildfires burning all around us (at a distance though) but it has been hot humid and smoky enough to look cloudy and burn your eyes when you go outdoors lol. So mostly they were hiding under the vehicles where it is cooler and they get a good dirt bath lol so didn't get too many good shots.

Little blue birchen roo. He is the sweetest little thing. I think he is starting to get a little silver on his hackles and back

Here he is next to the other black birchen that has some mossy gold leakage on his/her body but is developing silver on the hackle area.

Here is a pic of the little black mossy birchen. He is actually losing some of the mossy gold he started with and developing more silver. He had way more brown a few weeks ago. I don't think he will have correct coloring but will be interesting to see what he ends up like. Stands like a little roo but I still not sure -maybe a very bossy girl like the older blue birchen lol. Normally I would say roo.

Here is little 'miss thang' blue birchen girl. She thinks she is a turkey and eats like one too ...gobble gobble.

Here she is running wild with the turkey (there are 2 more turkeys just not in the shot..she pals around with the 3 of them).
