I don't think he looks over melanized. Here is what over melanized looks like. It has the mahogany in the hackles, saddles, etc.

Here is that same dark little roo outside. His mahogany is still dark.

My only BCM pullet from my March Hatch of Pink's eggs.
Just about 19 weeks old... Her comb is a bit messed up, but hey, it's all about the eggs

). That is a partial carnation comb, and a DQ in the Marans. If she's a layer only, no problems.

She is a pretty girl.

Thanks. Just a layer so all is good. Is a partial carnation comb common in BCMs? What causes this?

I still keep a nice even colored boy (Gigantor) and another unrelated boy, but I have one boy that is just now starting to show some color...and he is a BCM...but his color is so deep....I'm in love

crap....does that mean I'm keeping a roo just cause he's pretty?
