I dont know about all turkeys. I have the Bronze turkeys. I got them from the feed store so they are probably hatchery stock. I really expected them to be mean like dh said his were when he was little. I didn't expect them to be smart and sweet and clingy lol. Our male broke his neck somehow recently I think he must of ran into the boat trying to get away from a predator or else something else did it to him. Anyhow, I really miss him he followed me around like a puppy dog even worse than the two turkey hens that I have left do. They are really sweet. They like to be petted a little and talked to but not picked up. They are too fat too fly now and grew pretty fast. They are smarter than our chickens and will not drink nasty water...they love fresh water coming straight from the faucet best.
I think we majorly traumatized one of the hens the other day when we culled our male muscovey ducks. Dh had one butchered and draining in the killing cone and this hen came up and started the worst sorrowful call at the top of her lungs. She had a horrified look on her face too. She stood there and watched us skin him out etc and cried the whole time!!! They are not dumb she knew exactly what was going on- poor girl.

awww....thats sad....poor empathetic girlie

Yes, it's still supposed to be that way. Just ask the carrier to bring you one of the orange service envelopes. You can put money in there for stamps, and when the carrier gets back to the PO, they put the stamps on your mail, and should return your orange envelope so you can do it again. I used to carry a stock of stamps with me in case the customers wanted stamps to buy, that way they didn't have to wait till the next day or go to the PO to get them thereselves. My mail carrier here is a real lazy slug. She hates me because I called her on not doing her job. She wouldn't deliver parcels that would fit in my box, but leave me a notice to come pick it up! Told the Post Master at the PO here, I didn't appreciate doing my job and hers. Deliver the darn parcels! That's been over 10 years ago, and now, if there is GRASS growing in my gravel private road, she refuses to deliver to my box!

She hasn't delivered mail here all summer. That's ok, when they do the box count this year, an inventory of active mail boxes on routes, I will make sure she doesn't get to count mine! Don't fuss with me lady!

Aww - that's SO sad!

I have the broad breasted bronze, too!

They're really neat!
I got a tom and 2 hens and they're getting so BIG!!

They're supposed to be for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I'm really going to be sad to see them go!

Okay Sexperts (again), still willing these two to be girls! They are just past 6 weeks old now. There was a third that I rehomed a few weeks ago as it already had developed a very obvious large, red comb at that time. Unfortunately, I do not have these two identified separately (yet - I will put some sort of identifier on them for pics going forward), but at this age are they still looking like cockerels to you??

Boy - that must be some really good junk!

I get up at 4:30 for farm chores before regular work, but I don't think I could do 3am very often!!

Wow that chick doesn't even look like it has a comb or wattles. My 6 week old blue marans has huge wattles!
Regarding shipping eggs...
I have had eggs shipped from all over. I always use express mail. I am happy to get even one chick hatch with shipped eggs. I don't know why but eggs shipped to me from SC must be handled with kid gloves. They arrive in two days and lots of babies hatch. I have had eggs shipped from the west coast and they arrived late and had a zero hatch. Why??? I have no idea. Something special about the route from SC to Hawaii.
