Well said!!

Very well said I agree... I don't mind if there are flaws in my chickens and what's the point in buying chickens that completely meet the standard. The work is all done. The discouragement for me lies simply in humanity and the dishonesty of some human beings. I hate to be taken as a fool.

Amen to both posts Susie and Anna!

Mornin Everyone.... I am feeling a bit better this morning...still feel crappy, but not as bad as yesterday. I need to get out and sort out birds for showing since the entry forms need to be post marked by Thursday. My main man Gigantor looks truly sad...he's molting worse than all my cockerels and cocks combined...it stinks he won't be showable, but I might be able to try next spring if all goes well. It looks like I will have several others to pick from, so we'll see how I end up doing. I think my birds must have missed me yesterday since they are hanging around the back porch waiting for me...silly goofs

Just thought I would share some pictures. I ended up with 8 babies. One is a bit sparse on leg feathering but now that its fully fluffed I can see some. They are all 100% adorable though.

this one is sorta already my favorite. Its the sparse on leg feathering one of course but it is just sweet as can be.

a touch worries that this one doesn't look like the others. Came from the darkest egg but its almost all black. This is probably my second favorite though.

Supposed to be black copper marans. I am really wondering though on that all black one being so different. I just have a feeling she is different from the others. I may be slightly obsessed with these little fluff butts though. I took more pictures of chickies than kids today.

haha too funny. Chickies are addictive that's for sure. I don't know that all of those are black....I see what looks like some blues, but that might be the way the camera is washing them out if you used a flash...All ya can do is keep an eye on them and see how they grow out. Enjoy them!

Sorry you are still feeling crappy. Hope you get over it soon. Poor Gigantor, alot of mine are molting pretty badly too.
Bad news here. My ONLY wheaten Marans hen, Princess, got left out somehow when the kids locked up he chickens last night. I was still at school and the freerangers won't go in till dark. I can't find her anywhere. I'm really really bummed. She was a year old. Of course, I still have the 3 wheaten roosters....that's how it goes!
So looks like I will be looking for some good wheaten eggs soon!

Heatherlynn: Really cute chickies! Maybe the one in the last pic will be really dark blue. I've had several blues that looked black until they got up around 6mos of age, even. I love the really dark blue ones!

Thanks Lynette! I'm definitely not as bad as yesterday, but still not 100%.

No sign of your wheaten girl at all? That's terrible

I hope that she is just hiding somewhere and will show up

The thing I always hope with molting is that they will end up being more beautiful than they were before.... hear that Gigantor?...

Yep I bet he will be even more beautiful after the molt. My blues/bl coppers are almost done molting and have the prettiest feathers now that most of the horrid sunbleached brownish blue feathers are gone. One of my key west roos looks like a sissy with hardly any feathers at all lol. YOu can tell he is 'feeling' the molt too. He was the top dog in the barnyard and now he is hiding from the rest of them and wants to be by himself. I am curious to see if he will be as spunky when his feathers return.

Nope no sign of her anywhere. We had some opposums come up on the patio last week after cat food. I also found where one tried to dig a big hole under the duckyard run a few days ago. I pray that one didn't get her...or one of owls I heard last week grrrr. She isn't the type that would want to stay out she is a big ol' fraidy cat and she wasn't broody or anything. I'm deep down in the, "I shoulda's" and "I coulda's" right now. Darn, she was one of my favs!
